Release Info and Platforms

Winds of Viridia was announced on October 28, 2026 and is due in early 2027 for PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with a playable demo available now.

Announcement and release window

The game was revealed at Nintendo's Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026, and free demos launched the same day on the Switch 2 eShop and Steam. The release window is Q1 2027 / early 2027. No exact date has been announced.

Platforms

Coming to PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2. The Steam page lists the platform as Windows only. Full controller support and Steam Cloud saves are confirmed, and the game is localised into 12 languages.

The demo

The demo is available for free on Steam and the Switch 2 eShop as of the announcement date. It covers a portion of the valley including at least one boss encounter, which makes it the most direct way to evaluate the movement system and the totem builds before committing to the full release.

The team

Developed by Shark Jump, an Adelaide-based studio best known for Hacknet, with lead designer Matt Trobbiani - the creator of Hacknet - and Matt Le Krupa as lead programmer and James Pearse as lead artist. The project was backed by Screen Australia's Games: Expansion Pack fund under the working title Legend of Valley.

Music

The score is composed by Christopher Larkin and Kevin Penkin - known respectively for Hollow Knight, and for Made in Abyss and Florence. Both are Adelaide-based, and for a score-led exploration game that pairing is the standout credit of the announcement.
